John Barth owns and operates Adventure Unlimited, Inc. While the company offers trips all over the world, they are considered the premiere African safari outfitting company offering classic dangerous game safaris throughout Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
At the age of 21 after finishing college John moved to Africa where he worked for some of the most renowned professional hunting companies in Zimbabwe. Two years later John returned home to Texas where he started working in the safari consulting business. After being at home for a week John was approached by one of the largest sporting agencies in the world to run their African department. Three years later John formally started Adventure Unlimited, Inc which is now preparing to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
Adventure Unlimited offers everything from big game hunting in Europe, wing shooting in South America, and fishing in exotic destinations, but their specialty is the Big Five in Africa. John has made over 30 trips to Africa, and is considered one of the safari industry’s foremost experts in the field of big ivory and big cats. John is married to Lanelle Barth, also an avid African hunter, and they have three girls- twins 11 years old; Julia and Grace and Sarah 8 years old. John is a member of Safari Club International, the International Professional Hunters Association, Dallas Safari Club, the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa, and the American Association of Professional Hunting and Fishing Consultants.
Merrona Carlsson has been part of the Adventure Unlimited team since 2005. She takes care of all the administration for the office, coordinates and prepares all our clients’ for their trips. Merrona was born and raised in Zimbabwe and came to Texas in 2001, through a cultural exchange program for what was only supposed to be a year. All of Merrona’s family still lives in Zimbabwe whom she has very close ties with. In the Fall of 2012 Merrona decided that Texas was now her home and became a Naturalized US Citizen.
